" Addachakro"
the ground-breaking 17-part program for ETV-Bangla evolved out of
the relationship we had built with performers and artistes during
the many corporate events that we organized.
Set in a fictional Coffee House with a book-line
walls , a grand piano and a guitar propped against a couch, "Addachakro"
featured anchor-director Ranjon Ghoshal interacting spontaneously
with celebrities and achievers from the world of music, theater,
literature and cinema. There was small talk as well as serious
discussions and there were impromptu performances. The show featured
personalities like Sunil Gangopadhyaya, Shubha Mudgal, Nadita
Das, Amit Chaudhuri, Shyam Benegal, Ustad Rashid Khan, Kabir Suman
and Bhoomi, to name a few.
After two special episodes shot in Mumbai there
were four bonus episodes based in London, shot in the cafeteria
of the British film Institute by the side of river Thames. The
program garnered unprecedented TRPs for a non-soap program throughout
its run.
The success of "Addachakro"
was followed by " Lucky Khandan"
a program for ETV-Urdu which was once again built around a ground-breaking
concept. It was built around a family shopping at a mart to win
prizes. The program was mounted with artistes from Bangalore and
Hyderabad and was aired during the Id season to a great response.
